Over the last few years, people have started taking an awful lot more care over their skin - with many investing hundreds in all kinds of lotions and potions to keep it hydrated, fresh and wrinkle free.
But, while more people than ever are putting time and effort into taking care of their skin, it turns out that your daily shower routine could actually be doing more harm than good - depending on your habits.
If you wash your face in the shower because a) why not and b) you save yourself a couple of minutes by multi-tasking, then you've probably not given it a second thought.
However, if you're the type of person who likes a scalding hot shower each morning, it could be stripping your face of its essential oils.

Rather than washing our faces with water at a temperature better suited to cutlery and crockery, beauty expert Amadine Isnard says the best thing is to use either lukewarm or cold water.
Whether you do this over the sink or in the shower at a different temperature setting is up to you, but she told the Gloss using the sink allows you to "gauge the temperature more effectively" - plus, who likes a cold shower first thing anyway?
While it's a myth that cold water closes or minimises pores (sorry), an invigorating blast of cold water does our skin the world of good.
Amadine continues: "A cold finish stimulates circulation and can be hugely beneficial to the overall glow of your skin."
So take a couple of minutes extra out of your morning and save the scalding water for your dirty dishes.
