Asda is recruiting a new star for its 2019 Christmas TV ad campaign - and the festive hero could come from your house.
The supermarket is looking for a cat to be the big name in this year's TV adverts, and it wants people to nominate their pets.
This year, the supermarket’s Christmas ad will see the addition of one extra special titular character – ‘Mr Grumbles’ – a role which will see one lucky feline catapulted to Christmas stardom.
Awarded to the cat whose personality prowess ranges from grumpy and sullen to jubilant and joyous with the snap of a finger (and maybe a treat), the role will see the chosen cat taking part in what is set to be Asda’s most magical Christmas ad yet.
Eilidh Macaskill, Vice President of Creative and Media at Asda, said: “We want to make this Christmas the most extra special Christmas yet, so we’re pulling-out all stops to ensure we bring a little magic to screens, with the help of Mr Grumbles.”
Whether a short, ginger-furred kitten, or a raggedy ragdoll, the role of Mr Grumbles is open to cats of all shapes and sizes. The ad director will then select Mr Grumbles from hundreds of headshots, taken from a casting-call and those submitted by members of the public through social media, selecting the feline who brings to life the essence of Mr Grumbles.
Filming for Asda’s 2019 Christmas ad will begin in mid-September.
