Using AI at work is no longer seen as a bad thing. Today, people often say that AI won’t take your job, but someone who knows how to use it will. Now, Microsoft is launching a tool that lets managers track how often employees use AI. The new Copilot Dashboard feature in Viva Insights will show how actively teams are using AI and even compare their usage with other companies.

The feature is called ‘Benchmarks’ and it gives detailed insights into Copilot adoption trends both within an organisation and externally against similar firms. This means that managers can now check how different departments, job functions, or regions are adopting Microsoft Copilot, the company’s flagship AI assistant, and how those numbers stack up against top performers in the industry.
The dashboard tracks metrics like the percentage of active Copilot users, Adoption rates by app, and returning user percentage.
According to the company, it helps teams understand which groups are embracing AI tools the most and where more engagement may be needed. Externally, it offers comparative data against the top 10% and 25% of companies, both overall and among peers in similar industries or regions.
Microsoft says all external benchmarks are derived from anonymized data across at least 20 companies, using randomized models to prevent any single organization’s data from being identifiable.
The Benchmarks feature is currently available to private preview customers and will begin rolling out to all users later this month.
