Cricket in Moscow
A green field, the thwack of willow on leather ... and in place of a church spire, the whacking great tower of Moscow State University in the background. One of my favourite images of Russia’s fledgling cricket scene. ID1958299

Michael Clarke batting
England v Australia at Old Trafford in 2013. I was high up in the stands and knew the effect I was trying to create. Clarke plays the cover drive beautifully staying with the shot long after contact. A class player on and off the field. Alan Wood

Chile cricket
Playing against the Chilean national side in Santiago. The artificial turf pitch had been laid that morning, due to a lack of water they couldn’t produce a turf pitch. Stunning location though. KingCrud
Bat and ball that’s all you need
I have just bowled to my son, who awaits for a killer hit. You can play cricket anywhere and it is still fun. Shaun Ashcroft
St Crispins and Ryelands, Northampton
During friendlies (and sometimes league games) cricketers often take turns umpiring. It may be a chore but, it has to be the best view on the ground! This was a sneaky photo during a midweek friendly at St Crispins & Ryelands this July. Nathan Unison

Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, UAE
A sixes tournament in the grounds of the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s more picturesque cricket grounds. The beach and grounds of Emirates Palace are all around and the pitch is overlooked by Etihad Towers. The winter sun helps too. Desertdog83
England v India at The Oval
Day five at The Oval in 2011, when England had as good as won the fourth Test but everyone wanted to see Sachin Tendulkar get his 100th international century (lbw Bres on 91; sad times). But England won the Test, won the series and duly paraded the Mace around The Oval. IceMan33

The Oval
Major sporting arenas always look lost when they’re empty and more so on a snow-laden day in winter. Alan Wood
England v Australia, Old Trafford
As the day draws on so the crowd begins to play. More plastic beer ‘glasses’ are added and passed down the line. Stewards try to intercept and as the line increases so the speed of passing slows. Tim Bresnan seems unconcerned as he fields near the boundary and the crowd sings ‘Feed the snake and it will grow’. Alan Wood
The Oval in the rain
This umbrella sums it up as rain stops England v India at The Oval with India 9/2. The downpour wasn’t enough to stop them eventually being bowled for just 94 runs. ID7948939

Bramble Bank
Bramble Bank in the Southampton estuary has been in the news lately with the grounding of a cargo ship there. But it’s also the location of an annual cricket match - even though it’s in the middle of the estuary. The tide is so strong that for about an hour a sand bank a few feet across appears. That’s the cue for members of Southampton’s Royal Yacht Club and the isle of Wight’s Island Sailing Club to race out to it, set up stumps and have a game of cricket. They are all dressed in their whites and a good number of spectators stand in the shallow water. The sand bank is only there for an hour or so - let’s just say it’s a good job cricket balls float! It’s a surreal sight as tankers and cargo ships sail past (and the ship’s passengers are baffled to see people standing in the middle of the sea!). As the tide reclaims the bank, everyone gets back into their boats and sail off. Great fun - and very British! I took this picture in 1999. MisterBus2
Heading for Heathrow
Lord’s seems to be on the flight path to Heathrow and I wonder if the pilots hope to see a ball bowled as they pass overhead. The camera operator seems relaxed as he concentrates on England v New Zealand. Alan Wood

Kemsing v Leigh, Kent Village league
Cold drinks await on the pavilion wall until the end of the over when the hot and tired Second XI club cricketers of Leigh (batting) and Kemsing can get their refreshment. Since Sky took over live cricket TV broadcasting from free-to-air in 2006, club cricket participation has dropped by nearly 25%, so views like this will become increasingly rare. Idontlikecricket
