Schools across the country are preparing for a return to the classroom next week as ministers lay out measures to ensure Covid safety for staff and pupils.
Staying organised with numerous kids in school can be tough, and remembering every holiday and midterm can sometimes be impossible.
So here is the full list of school holidays for this year right up until 2022’s year-end with the first break coming up in October:
October 2021 mid-term
All schools close from Monday, October 25, 2021, and reopen the following Monday, November 1, 2021.
Christmas 2021
All schools close on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, which is the final day of the school term, and will reopen on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
February 2022 mid-term
Primary schools close for 2 days, on Thursday 24 February 2022, and reopen on Monday, February 28, 2022.
Primary schools can use 3 discretionary days to extend this to a 5-day break starting on Monday, February 21, 2022, unless they need these days to make up for time lost due to unforeseen school closures.
Post-primary schools close for the full week, from Monday, February 21, 2022, to Friday, February 25, 2022.
If a post-primary school needs to make up such time, it may shorten the mid-term break by staying open up to and including Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Easter 2022
All schools close on Friday, April 8, 2022, which is the final day of the school term, unless otherwise stated by an individual school.
Some schools may Easter break by staying open up to and including Wednesday, April 13 2022.
All schools re-open on Monday, April 25, 2022.
