Youngstown State teammates help injured QB take the final snap of his career

Earlier this season, Youngstown State quarterback Nathan Mays broke his leg and dislocated his ankle in a loss to the North Dakota State Bison. The injuries put a quick and unfortunate end to his final season with the Penguins.

Today in the team’s final game, his teammates helped him put a bittersweet cap on his college career. In the fourth quarter of a 21-3 win over Illinois State, the team called a timeout and Mays’ teammates walked him on to the field so he could take the final knee of the game to seal the win and end their season.

It was an incredible moment.

Shoutout to Youngstown State for doing this. These are the moments that make sports great. Aside from the championships, wins and losses, the special bonds between players like this one that are just amazing to see.
