Youngstown State center Vitas Hrynkiewicz earns invite to Giants’ local Pro Day

Vitas Hrynkiewicz might not be a player whose name stands out to anyone as far as potential NFL prospects, but after an impressive Pro Day and workout in front of NFL scouts and personnel, Hyrnkiewicz has earned himself a chance to further showcase his talents for the New York Giants.

Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media reports that Hyrnkiewicz will join a group of local prospects at the Giants’ Pro Day in early April.

Hrynkiewicz wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis, but his numbers at Youngstown State’s Pro Day caught the eye of those who were in attendance.

Hyrnkiewicz, who is from Somerset and attended Immaculata before attending Youngstown State, said he modeled his game after Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

“I grew up going to Eagles games,” Hrynkiewicz recently told NFL Draft Diamonds. “And I love the passion and athleticism that Jason Kelce plays the game with.”

The Giants already have two centers on their roster — Spencer Pulley and Jon Halapio — but given general manager Dave Gettleman’s philosophy to have as many “hot mollies” on the roster as possible, it certainly won’t hurt to see what the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Hrynkiewicz can provide.

Hrynkiewicz is likely option late in the 2019 NFL Draft or as an undrafted rookie free agent.
