Youngsters break into old Kilmarnock Academy school building

Police are appealing for information after youngsters broke into the old Kilmarnock Academy building.

The trio – believed to be aged between 12 and 14 years old – smashed a window in the raid on Monday, May 6 between 6.35pm and 7.20pm.

The former B-listed school was handed over to Centrestage by East Ayrshire Council in March this year as part of a community asset transfer to convert the school into ‘Centrestage Village’.

A programme of works is currently under way to ensure the 1898 original building is easily accessible for visitors to enjoy all that the Centrestage offers.

More than 6000 emergency food parcels handed out to Kilmarnock and Loudoun residents in last year

One of the youngsters is described as wearing a blue jacket and a dark hooded top. Another was spotted wearing dark clothing with white writing on his top.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Stewart on the non-emergency Police Scotland 101 number with the reference 8484.
