Youngster who swapped Nottingham Forest for RB Leipzig set for move

Ex-Nottingham Forest youngster Matthew Bondswell is on the move, two years after his switch to German outfit RB Leipzig.

The England youth international will join Dutch second division side Dordrecht on loan, according to reports in Holland.

Bondswell came through the Nigel Doughty Academy at Forest, playing alongside Alex Mighten, with both players attracting interest from the Premier League - Mighten has since gone on to become part of Sabri Lamouchi's first team squad at the City Ground.

Manchester United and Southampton were the clubs monitoring the young left-back before he made the decision to follow in the footsteps of Oliver Burke and join the German outfit.

After arriving in Germany, Bondswell played regularly in the Under-17 Bundesliga, playing 23 times, whilst also representing England.

He took part in last summer’s Under-17 European Championships in Ireland before going on to play for Leipzig’s Under-19 side making 12 appearances before the season was cut short.

Bondswell has also had a taste of European football, playing in the UEFA Youth League against Zenit St Petersburg and Lyon.

In a bid to get a taste of first team action, the 18-year-old will now spend the season in Holland.
