Midfielder Cafu says his goal was always to try to earn a long-term contract at Nottingham Forest - and he believes there is still plenty more to come from his performances.
The Portuguese initially penned a season-long loan deal from fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned outfit Olympiacos last summer.
But having become a first-team regular, and showed his flexibility by playing in a number of positions, that was converted into a permanent move at the end of the January transfer window.
In his first season in English football, Cafu racked up 33 appearances for the Reds.
With his future already sorted, the aim now is to further his progress as Chris Hughton’s side target a top six finish next term.
Contract signed
Teenager James Clarridge is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Joe Worrall after taking the “big step” of signing his first professional contract with Nottingham Forest.
The 17-year-old defender has been with the Reds for the past decade, progressing through the ranks - and hopes to eventually make his way into the first-team.
"I'm excited to continue my time with the club,” Clarridge said.
“My first professional contract is a big step for me and my family and it's a really proud moment for us all.
Striker competition
The list of clubs said to be casting admiring glances towards Nottingham Forest-linked striker Dion Charles continues to grow.
The Reds are one of a number of sides credited with an interest in the in-demand Accrington Stanley forward, with arch-rivals Derby County, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and Hull City also linked.
And now recently relegated Rotherham United have joined the race for his signature, according to The Sun.
Front man Charles caught the eye with his haul of 20 goals in 48 games in all competitions in the season just gone, and made his Northern Ireland debut earlier this year.
Transfer talk
Steve Evans hopes Gillingham will not sell any of their prized talents this summer amid claims Nottingham Forest want Kyle Dempsey.
The Reds have been consistently linked with the midfielder who enjoyed a fine campaign in League One which has led to plenty of interest in the former Fleetwood player.
Dempsey scored eight goals for the Gills which has put him on the radar of several Championship clubs with Forest said to be among the list of suitors.
It is believed Gillingham would only consider selling the 25-year-old for a fee north of £500,000 despite the ex-Carlisle United man having a year left on his contract.
