Youngster's Easter treat surprise from her checkout pal in Lanarkshire supermarket

By Michael Pringle

The family of a young girl are singing the praises of a key worker in Lanarkshire who befriended her.

Becky Fraser, mum of three-year-old Remy, commended supermarket worker Sandra McLaughlan describing her as the “loveliest lady”, after she surprised her daughter with an Easter bonnet she had made along with a bag filled with treats.

Sandra, who works at Asda in Newmains, has formed a special bond with little Remy over the last few years.

The youngster has been going into the store shopping with her mum since she was born.

Remy is Sandra’s favourite customer and the avid hand crafter handmade the bonnet and presented her with special items so she could hold an Easter hunt in her garden at home.

Sandra said: “I have known little Remy since she was born, and I love to see her in the store. I enjoy chatting to her and just wanted to make her something special for Easter.”

And Remy was delighted with the gift from her checkout pal, according to her mu who revealed that she won’t let her mum go to any checkout other than Sandra’s when they are in the store.

Becky said: “We do our shopping every Sunday and my little girl, Remy, absolutely loves coming along to see Sandra. We aren’t allowed to go to another checkout because Remy wants to speak to Sandra.

“Sandra was so kind to make Remy an Easter bonnet and filled a bag with lots of other Easter goodies. Remy was absolutely over the moon. What an amazing gesture from the loveliest lady”

Asda Service Section Leader, Josh Laird said: “This is a great example of the kind of service that Sandra delivers on a daily basis. Sandra always strives to make great connections with customers.

“She is a credit to the store and a real asset to our team. I always receive great feedback from colleagues and customers alike. We are all immensely proud of Sandra.”
