Young Zac baldly goes for the cut that others fear to raise money to support NHS frontline staff

The kind-hearted son of a Wishaw school teacher has braved the shave to raise money for NHS staff.

Zac Somerville decided to shave his head and wanted to raise cash to support the frontline workers risking their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.

The eight-year-old, whose dad David is a PE teacher at Clyde Valley High School, wanted to raise £150 but couldn’t believe the reaction with almost £1,000 raised.

Zac said: “I have decided if I can raise £150 for our front line NHS staff I will shave off all of my hair. I am really scared to do this however not as scared as the hospital staff must be.

“So please give anything that you can.

“Stay safe, stay home and thank you NHS you are amazing.”

Proud mum Louise added: “We set his target at £150 because we didn’t want to get his hopes up but the support he’s had has been incredible.

“Zac has been watching the news and he is a bit scared of what is going on in the world just now. He understands the work the NHS workers have been doing.

“He has really been getting into the hand-clapping and wanted to do more. I’m really pleased for him.”
