A law student and former student councillor head up a group of 'young, working class' candidates looking to win seats for the Conservatives at the Halton local elections.
The party will be contesting 26 seats across the borough in the May 6 Local Council Elections, with one of those in the running hailing what he called a number of 'young and working class' candidates looking to 'upset the status quo'.
Cameron Molyneaux, who will be running in Appleton, is currently studying a degree in law and has been active in politics for the last 18 months.
He said: “I’m someone from the younger generation of Conservatives (people) can relate to, and someone who is willing to stand up for them and champion their beliefs."
Halton Conservatives chairman Daniel Clarke will be running in Beechwood and Heath, with his sister Tania contesting Halton View.
Daniel said both come from a working-class background and added that he has been active in politics for seven years, including a stint on his student council at college.
Tania is a mum of two who has spent the last few years working as a security guard.
Darren Soley, who is running Birchfield, spent several years in the armed forces before returning to civilian life and eyeing a move into local politics.
Daniel Baker, contesting Mersey and Weston, said he wants to give local residents a greater say on proposed investment in the area.
He said: “Our candidates come from a variety of working-class backgrounds and we are fighting for a better alternative to the status quo."
