Young woman tragically dies as car she was travelling in hits wall on N61 near, Boyle, Co Roscommon

A young woman has tragically died after the car she was travelling in struck a wall in Co Roscommon.

The woman, in her 20s, and the driver, a man in his 20s, was rushed to Sligo University Hospital after the crash on Saturday morning.

Gardai have confirmed that she sadly passed away on Saturday night due to the injuries sustained in the collision.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the N61 road at Greatmeadow, Boyle to come forward.

It is not known what the condition of the driver is. No other injuries have been reported.

A garda spokesman said: "The car collided with a wall causing significant damage to the vehicle.

"The road was closed for Forensic Collisions Investigators and has since reopened.

"Gardaí in Boyle are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Greatmeadow area at the time to make it available to Gardaí.
