Young woman 'sexually assaulted' in Dublin city property during early-morning attack as garda hunt under way

A massive garda hunt is under way after a young woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in an early morning attack in Dublin city.

The shocking alleged incident is said to have taken place at 3:45am on 29 February in a property on Lord Edward Street.

It is understood that the woman was separated from her group of friends while socialising on Friday night before meeting the man who is alleged to have sexually assaulted her, Dublin Live reports.

The woman was treated at a sexual assault treatment unit in a Dublin hospital and her bloods were tested to determine if there was any date-rape drugs in her system.

CCTV is said to play a vital part in this investigation as Gardai try an track down the alleged attacker.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "We are investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault that is believed to have occurred at a property on Lord Edward Street on the 29th February.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
