Young woman 'severely injured' after being struck by car in Shettleston

A young woman has been left 'severely injured' after being hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Shettleston.

Police were called to the scene outside Shettleston Juniors Football Club on Old Shettleston Road around 9.10pm on Friday, August 20 following the incident.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she describes herself as being 'severely injured'.

Chelsea Montgomery has appealed on social media for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Posting on Facebook, she said: "Hi everyone not the nicest of posts but on Friday the 20th of August between 9 and 9:40pm, I was struck by what we believe is a black car at the pedestrian crossing outside Shettleston Juniors and I’m severely injured and in hospital.

"I’m appealing for anyone to come forward if you saw the incident or if you were in the Shettleston area with a dashcam at the time as the driver didn’t stop and just drove away.

"If everyone could share that would be so appreciated."

Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.10pm on Friday, 20 August, officers were called to a report of a woman struck by a car in Old Shettleston Road, Glasgow. She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and enquiries are continuing into this incident."
