Young woman seriously injured and dog killed in Ayrshire hit and run

A young woman has been seriously injured in a hit and run which killed her dog in Ayrshire.

Police were called to the scene of the incident which took place on the B742 between Mossblown and Annbank around 3.15pm on Saturday May 9.

A red Vauxhall Astra VXR - believed to have been occupied by two men - collided with the 21-year-old and her dog.

Cops believe the suspects then made off in the direction of Annbank.

Their victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Now Police Scotland are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which left the woman 'traumatised'.

Constable Greg Norwood from the Ayrshire Road Policing Unit based at Irvine, said: “This was a traumatic experience for the woman involved and we are keen to trace the vehicle involved.

“We believe the car will have sustained significant damage to the front offside and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2403 of 9 May.
