A woman in her 20s was in critical condition after being pulled Friday from Lake Michigan on the South Side.
First responders pulled her from the water about 1:50 p.m. near 87th Street, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
The woman, about 25, was taken to Trinity Hospital in cardiac arrest, Langford said.
A Chicago police spokesman did not immediately have details.
Choppy water and life-threatening waves up to 6 feet high were forecast along the lakeshore Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
So far in 2020, at least 46 people have drowned in Lake Michigan, according to the Great Lake Surf Rescue Project.
About two hours earlier, a body of an unidentified male was recovered from the Calumet River, just blocks away near 95th Street.
