Young woman hilariously tells why her mam was pulled over by gardai in mistaken identity

A woman has said her mother was pulled over by gardai after they mistook her for being a child.

A tweet posted claims the officers flagged down the car thinking that the 22-year-old woman was actually a child.

Colleen Clarke tweeted: "The garda just pulled my mam over because she had a little girl in the front seat … the little girl was me a 22 year old."

The viral tweet had people all over the social media platform in hysterics and has been shared thousands of times already.

However, despite popular belief, there is no law against children sitting in the front seat, as long as they use the correct child restraint for their height and weight.

All child car seats sold in Ireland must meet EU standards. This means when buying a child car seat, you should always look for the 'E' mark.

The RSA advised you to choose a retailer who can fit the child car seat for you and who can show you how to fit it correctly yourself.

You should also make sure you get the instruction manual with your car seat on how to fit it safely.
