Young woman dragged to ground by man armed with scissors in terrifying Ranelagh drive-by mugging

A young woman was attacked in a terrifying drive-by mugging in south Dublin at the weekend.

Gardai are investigating after a man jumped from a car armed with a scissors before demanding the victim's handbag.

The shocking crime happened in Ranelagh in broad daylight shortly after lunchtime on Saturday.

A man and a woman in a car stopped her for directions somewhere on Dartmouth road.

The male jumped out of the car, came behind her and pulled her to the ground and threatened her with a scissors before demanding her bag.

They got her bag and phone and left the girl badly shaken. She has no injuries but the male pulled her to the ground. They sped off  before passers-by alerted gardai.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of theft that occurred at Ranelagh, Dublin 6 on Saturday 14 March 2020 at approximately 2.30pm.

"A woman in her 30s had property taken from her. No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact their local Garda station.
