A warning has been issued to those walking alone in the mornings after a young woman was approached by a man and held at knifepoint in Dublin.
The woman who is in her 20s was approached by the young male at Wedgewood Estate in Sandyford as she made her way to Kilmacud Luas Stop.
The thug was armed with a knife and demanded the woman's purse but she managed to run away from the attacker leaving him empty-handed.
Gardai said they are investigating the horrifying attack and added that thankfully the woman had not been injured during the incident.
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardai are investigating an attempted robbery from a woman that occurred at Wedgewood Estate, Sandyford, Dublin 18."
He added: "A female in her early 20s was approached by a male and allegedly threatened with a knife.
"No items were taken and no injuries to the persons were reported. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
