From Snapchat to Instagram, most social media apps are now awash with photos of people using filters.
Now, one popular ‘young’ vlogger whose videos relied on a filter has shocked fans, after a technical glitch during a live-stream revealed her to be a middle-aged woman.
The vlogger, who went by ‘Your Highness Qiao Biluo’, appeared to be a glamorous young woman, and boasted more than 100,000 followers on Douyu.
However, a recent live-stream with another user, Qingzi, revealed that she had been using a filter.
According to a report by The Global Times, fans urged the vlogger to show her face during the live stream but she refused, saying: “I can't show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 yuan ($11,950). After all, I'm a good-looking host.”
Followers initially sent her donations reportedly totalling a whopping £4,780.
However a glitch in her filter meant that her real face soon became visible, leading to many people exiting the live-stream en masse.
And now that her real face has been revealed, many of her original followers have stopped following her, according to the report.
The vlogger has also now suspended her platform.
The news has sparked a debate about the impact of using filters on videos. While some people have sided with the vlogger and claim that viewers should know that she used a filter, other claim that her strategy was a con.
However, all is not lost for Your Highness Qiao Biluo. Based on the widespread coverage of her story, her channel now has over 650,000 followers!
