Young thug group viciously assault man, 50s, at Dublin train station during rush hour

A garda hunt is currently underway to find a group of youngsters who viciously assaulted a man in his 50s at a Dublin train station.

The victim was attacked during rush hour at Clonsilla Train Station while travelling on a train from Pearse Station to Maynooth at 7pm on Monday.

It is understood that a group of about four youths had been involved in anti-social behaviour on the same train before the man was assaulted and are suspected to have carried out the brutal attack.

Fellow passengers alerted the driver when the train arrived at Clonsilla with both the driver and staff assisting the victim.

Gardai were called immediately but the youths had already fled the scene.

A Garda spokesman said: "We are investigating an alleged assault of a male in his 50s that is believed to have taken place at Clonsilla Train Station.

He added: "No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."
