Young Sunderland defender extends loan stay at Spennnymoor Town

Sunderland youngster Kenton Richardson will spend a second month on loan at Spennymoor Town.

The 22-year-old originally joined the National League North side on an initial month-long deal in November, and that has been extended by a further month.

Richardson has started Spennymoor's last three games in all competitions.

Spennymoor are currently managerless following the departure of ex-Sunderland midfielder Tommy Miller last weekend.

Richardson joined Sunderland on a two-year contract in the summer of 2020, following the expiration of this contract at Hartlepool where he had made 50 senior appearances in all competitions.

He initially became part of the Black Cats' U23 set-up, but made his first-team debut in October in the EFL Trophy against Lincoln City, and he went on to play in two more Trophy ties.
