Young shop worker stabbed to death in Colindale 'was on way home from late shift'

A man was shot by armed police last night

A young shop worker was stabbed to death on his way home after finishing a late shift, neighbours said.

The 22-year-old was found with knife wounds in Martlesham Walk, Colindale, at about 11pm on Saturday after police were called to reports of a stabbing in nearby Debden Close.

Officers and medics tried to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene 45 minutes later.

A shrine with balloons, cards and flowers has been set up near the home he shared with his mother, father and three siblings.

A neighbour said: “He was totally innocent. He is the nicest guy you could meet and the family are very well respected and liked.

“He was on his way home from work in retail when he was attacked. His family are devastated.

“They have no idea why this happened. They need answers. This was a boy who looked out for other people. He had never been in trouble. It’s a tragedy.”

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference 8540/05SEP, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
