Young Scots teenager vanishes overnight sparking safety fears as police search launched

A Lanarkshire teenager who vanished overnight has sparked a frantic police search to find her.

Amber Niven was last seen in the Cadzow Street area of Hamilton shortly before 10pm on Friday, November 26.

It is understood that the 16-year-old failed to return home or contact worried loved ones and has been reported missing to police.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, light grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.

The teen is described as being around 5ft 5in tall, of a medium build and has long, strawberry blonde hair.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are seeking the assistance of the public in an effort to trace 16-year-old Amber Niven, who is missing from the Hamilton area.

“She was last seen about 9.55pm on Friday, 26 November, on Cadzow Street, Hamilton.

Amber is described as white, 5ft 5ins in height and of medium build with long, strawberry blonde hair.

“When she was last seen she was wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, light-grey jogging trousers and white trainers.

“If anyone has seen Amber or has any information on her whereabouts, please contact 101 quoting reference number 0543 of 27 November.”
