Young Polish woman arrested after gardai seize large amount of cannabis in north Dublin

A woman in her 20s is being questioned after a large haul of cannabis was seized in north Dublin yesterday.

Revenue officers seized approximately 800 grams of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €16,000 following a search, under warrant, of a house in Balbriggan.

The bust was part of an intelligence-led operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and gardai from the Drugs Unit in the coastal town.

A 25-year-old Polish woman was arrested by Gardaí and is currently being detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Gardai said in a statement about the Balbriggan bust that investigations are ongoing.

They added: "This operation was part of ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."

Also yesterday, gardai in Finglas arrested two men for possession of cannabis after stopping and searching a car in the Rathoath Road area around 11pm.

A garda spokesman said: "Two men both aged in their 20s were arrested for possession of a small amount of cannabis (pending analysis). Both have been released pending further investigation."
