Young people in Falkirk participate in town's first ever hustings for the Youth Parliament elections

Young people in Falkirk have participated in the town's first ever hustings for the Scottish Youth Parliament Elections 2021.

A total of 14 candidates are standing for the role of MYSP for the next two years, a rise from the four in total during the previous term.

Current MYSP for Falkirk West Robbie Burgess, chaired the event and said: "A fantastic night chairing Falkirk's first ever hustings!

"These young people have great ideas and a positive vision for all young people in Scotland and Falkirk.

"The next two weeks will be tough but exciting and I wish them all the best!"

Voting is now open for eligible young people across Scotland aged between 12 and 25 and is set to close on Sunday November 21.

A results night organised entirely by the candidates themselves will be held at Falkirk Town Hall the following evening.

A dinner will be put on with local councillors expected to attend and deliver a series of speeches.

The result is expected to be shared at around 7pm.
