Social media are considered a staple part of every teenage diet, but are young people now turning their backs on the likes of Facebook and Instagram?

Studies have indicated this could be the case: according to Time, more than 11 million young people have fled Facebook since 2011 – with many of those being escaping teens. There’s also theories that these young people are moving off these platforms, and onto messaging apps such as Whatsapp and Snapchat. In fact a recent study found that Snapchat is considered the most important social network.

Have you recently decided to switch off from social media? Why did you do it? How long have you managed to stay off for? What’s been the impact? Have you moved onto newer social media platforms such as Snapchat or have you ditched them too? Are you now just on Whatsapp? Maybe you’ve decided to ditch your smartphone for something simpler and go offline completely? Give us your views and stories in the form below.
