Young Newcastle United duo in line for first-team call at Old Trafford

Newcastle United may include teenagers Joe White and Elliot Anderson in their squad for the trip to Manchester United.

Toon head coach Steve Bruce has been hit with injuries to forwards Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser.

Bruce was unable to put a timescale on Wilson while Fraser’s injury is not as bad as first feared.

White made his debut in pre-season while Anderson played last term away to Arsenal in both the Premier League and FA Cup.

Bruce said to BBC Radio Newcastle: “Joe White has come up to the first team in the last ten days or so and trained with us, and will maybe be involved tomorrow.”

Anderson has recovered from a hip injury and trained in recent days.
