Attitudes towards breastfeeding in public have changed hugely in recent years, and where people may have been prudish and uncomfortable previously, many more are accepting and understanding that if a baby needs to be fed, it doesn't matter where a mum is.
Gone are the days of hurrying mothers into back rooms - some women are even taking it to the next level by openly documenting their breastfeeding journeys on social media to inspire other new mums.
But Shania O'Neill, 18, from Blackpool, has called out the people who make totally inappropriate comments about breastfeeding. She says people have demanded that she cover up, and even claims men have sexualised her then she's feeding her baby.
Shania fell pregnant at 16 with her daughter Isabella, and has been on the receiving end of cruel and sexual comments about her choice to breastfeed in public. She posts her journey on her TikTok account, stating all the reasons why she shouldn't have to cover up.
Shania says she's had comments from men asking 'for a turn', and women wondering whether she's doing it for sexual attention - but she doesn't let these hateful responses bother her, and continues to do what nature intended.
"Men say things such as 'Can I have a turn' and I never reply but if I do, I will just say that boobs are for feeding babies and I will ignore them. I would recommend for mums to just go into it without a care in the world, your baby comes first," Shania explained.
She doesn't feel the need to cover her baby with a blanket either, no matter where she is, as she highlights its a natural thing that helps her bond with her daughter.
She added: "I've learned to brush the comments off, their opinions are irrelevant.
"I've had comments such as men asking to be my stepson, they're jealous of my baby, and comparing it to being the same as masturbating in the street.
"I don't get why people think it's me looking for sexual attention and making it sexual, I am just doing something so natural that was seen as normal 60 years ago.
"I get so many comments online about what men do when watching my videos. As well as people saying how uncomfortable it makes them. I'm sorry feeding my daughter makes people feel uncomfortable.
"Men also say it makes them hard to watch my videos. I can't believe it, boobs are for feeding babies. It's a natural thing.
"The comments online are the worst, everyone is against it, but in public, I've had quite a few positive comments, and people will come up to me and say well done but I've learned to brush the comments off."
Shania says that while feeding her daughter in public once, someone approached her and told her to use a blanket to cover up as they didn't want their child to see what she was doing - but she refuses, saying she won't let it affect her.
"My baby comes before others so I don't let it affect me. I did cover-up at the start as I felt uneasy and it was hard with a blanket because I had to keep checking every two seconds underneath it so now I don't use one at all and it's much easier", she said.
"It's created such an amazing bond, when she was born I didn't feel an attachment to her as I had four-day labour and I was in so much pain. I didn't want to hold her at the start but when she latched on to me it was such a different feeling.
"It was quite hard as when I had just had her I didn't have many friends once I had her. None of my friends had babies and they did want to be around someone with a baby, but I have now adapted to motherhood and have found other mums."
