Woman's powerful coronavirus warning after date turned into a fight for life

A woman has issued a coronavirus warning after going on a date that turned into a fight for her life.

Amie Morris started experiencing a sore throat, fever and lost her sense of taste and smell just one day she went out with a man suffering from a dry cough.

After a few days, Amie realised she was suffering with symptoms consistent with coronavirus before being officially diagnosed.

She was forced into isolation away from her young children and parents who were visiting from overseas.

Amie, from Sydney, Australia, described how while on her date, she noticed the man had a "dry cough".

In a harrowing account of her experience, Amie said as her condition worsened throughout the week, her lungs soon began to struggle and she could barely take a breath.

She said: "I seemed to have a decline in my lungs and really struggled to catch my breath."

Amie said the hardest thing was being separated from her children.

She added: "But luckily they were with their Dad when I started with active symptoms and so were kept safe,” she told  7NEWS.com.au.

“And I stayed in total isolation in my room so my oldies didn’t catch it either.”

After three weeks fighting the virus, Amie's condition took a turn for the worst and she was rushed to an emergency room with severe breathing difficulties.

An X-ray showed how her lungs were inflamed and her body was still working overtime to fight the virus.

However, she said a week she is finally over her ordeal and has been placed in quarantine for one further week.

Amie said being cut off from her loved ones and having no human contact for a week was one of the worst parts.

She added: "You realise how important i is and how much physical ouch you have with those you love."

Speaking of her date, Amie said they had been regularly in touch to check on one another during their fight against the deadly virus.

In her final message - she urged everyone to simply "follow the rules" to stop the spread.

Australia now has over 6,000 cases of coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours, it also recorded its 50th death - although the number of new cases has steadily flattened over the past week.
