Young mum horrified by dead rats 'the size of TV remotes' in her new council flat

A young Mum was horrified after finding dead rats 'the size of TV remotes' in her new council flat in Norwich.

Charli Denton, 18, was about to move in with her one-year-old son when she discovered a mound of rodent faeces on kitchen work surfaces with a rats' nest beneath, according to The Sun online.

She also found rat faeces beneath her bath.

In an interview, she said: "We decorated all the other rooms first - it was only when we did the kitchen that we discovered the problem."

She said: "There were two dead rats - as big as TV remotes. I felt so sick, they were massive.

"The kitchen units were scratched and chewed and the smell was disgusting.

"I was absolutely disgusted. I'm just so glad we hadn't moved in completely."

A spokesman for Norwich City Council said its contractor, Norwich Norse, had now carried out "more in-depth work" at the property.

The council spokesman said: "We're sorry to hear that Charli's tenancy got off to a bad start, so as well as replacing the bath and kitchen units, we are not charging her rent for the weeks affected."
