A mother continued to fight for her life last night after being viciously attacked on Saturday.
Nadine Lott, who is in her 30s, was severely beaten at her residence in Arklow, Co Wicklow, at around 4.25am.
She also suffered a number of stab wounds and was brought to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries.
It is understood that while she remained in a critical condition, her vital signs had slightly improved last night.
She had been planning to take her daughter to Disneyland Paris over Christmas.
Gardai arrested a man, in his 30s, in connection with the assault and detectives are following a definite line of enquiry and investigations are ongoing.
They are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
Officers also want any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the Arklow area between 4am and 5am to contact gardai immediately.
