Young mum, 19, missing with 10-month-old son told she is 'not in any trouble' by police

Update: Maisey and Leighton have been found. More details here.

A teenage mum who went missing with her 10-month-old baby boy was today told by police: "You are not in any trouble."

Maisey Roberts, 19, and her son Leighton Jones, were last seen at around 5pm on Tuesday, on Hawthorne Road in Litherland, close to a Tesco supermarket.

She was pushing the child in an old fashioned pram.

Today, Merseyside Police launched an urgent appeal to find her and said her concerned family were "very worried about her."

Maisey, who lives in Litherland , has not gone missing before and her disappearance was described as "out of character."

It is not known if the young mum left with a packed baby bag including nappies and milk for Leighton.

Maisey picked up her son from her grandparents' home on Tuesday evening, but then vanished.

Police said there was "no imminent risk" to the teen and her baby.

Superintendent Graeme Robson, Area Commander for Sefton, told the ECHO : "We are worried about her , it is out of character for her to do this.

"We are concerned Maisey and her son are away from that stable family environment where they need to be.

"Our appeal it two-fold, firstly to members of the public, if you have seen them, get in touch.

"And also to Maisey, you are not in any trouble, we are worried about you, we can give you the support that you need.

"We have worked closely with her family who are helping us in our efforts to find her.

"She's not done everything wrong, we just want her to come home."

Maisey was wearing a black bubble coat, is around 5ft 6in, slim and has long blonde hair.

Police said they are conducting a number of lines of enquiry to find her, and are likely to check her social media accounts, mobile phone activity and any bank cards to help locate her.

If anyone can help, they should call 999 or direct message on Twitter, @MerPolCC quoting Log 0686.
