Young motorcyclist killed in horror crash in southeast London

A young motorcyclist has died from “significant” head injuries following a smash in south-east London.

The man, in his 20s, was seriously hurt in residential Lakedale Road, Plumstead, at around midday on Tuesday.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after.

The Metropolitan Police said street closures are still in place after the single-vehicle motorbike collision.

A forensic tent remained at the scene on Tuesday evening.

The force added: “At 12.08pm on Tuesday, September 30 officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Lakedale Road, Plumstead.

“One man in 20s was found with significant head injuries.

“He was treated by paramedics at the scene then quickly taken to hospital.

“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services and medical staff he died shortly after arriving.

“The man’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“A forensic tent remains at the scene and several road closures remain in place.”
