Young mother puts 'sex attacker' in hold until police arrive in Germany

A young mother is thought to have caught a serial sexual assaulter after refusing to let go of him when he tried to grab her.

The 31-year-old woman noticed an unfamiliar man beginning to follow her as she walked down her neighbourhood street with her young child in Germany, according to The Local.

Seven other sexual attacks had taken place on the streets of the neighbourhood in the quiet north port town of Lübeck in the previous three weeks.

As the woman walked on, the man moved closer and eventually reached out and put his hand up between her legs, police have reported.

But instead of being afraid and trying to escape her assaulter, the woman grabbed hold of him and refused to let him go until he was arrested.

She got him in a grip until the police - who were alerted by passersby - arrived on the scene, at which point he was handed over.

Police now believe it is “very likely” that the man was also behind a string of sexual assaults which began in late December in the area.

Germany saw a spate of sexual assaults on New Year's Eve in Cologne, the country's media reported at the start of January.
