No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a spokesman  for GMP  said.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with further information to contact them.

Sergeant Matt Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has so sadly passed away.

"Our specialist officers are supporting them at this terrible time.

“Our focus is on ensuring we discern the full circumstances surrounding this collision and to do so we need to make sure we speak to any witnesses or people who may have dashcam footage around the area at the time of incident.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 1207 of 12/09/2020. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
