Young man was stabbed to death at 'rowdy' house party after fight heard by neighbour

A man has been stabbed to death at a "rowdy" house party after neighbours heard a fight break out.

Emergency services were called to Oakham Street in Dingle, Merseyside, shortly after 6am on Friday after reports a man had been injured.

Paramedics discovered a young man had been stabbed and was soaked in his own blood.

Despite their efforts, the 26-year-old died from his injuries shortly after paramedics arrived.

People living in the area said that the victim had been at a house party on the road that had drawn a large crowd, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Neighbours said they heard loud music, shouting and at around 5am a fight had broken out in the street.

Detective Chief Inspector Richie Jones, of Merseyside Police, confirmed that the victim attended the party before being tragically killed.

In a statement, he said: "We are in the very early stages of an investigation and are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“We are speaking with a number of people who we believe were at the house at the time of the incident, in attendance at a party.

“At this time the motive for the attack is unknown and we are keeping an open mind."

A cordon still remains around Oakham Street, and a full forensic search of the house is underway and CCTV from the area is being examined.

Neighbours from the next street told the Liverpool Echo that a large party had taken place at the property yesterday afternoon that went on until late.

One of the residents said that they could hear loud music and lots of people were coming and going from the house.

The victim has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed by police.

A murder investigation was launched shortly after the man's death and a post mortem will take place in coming days to establish his cause of death.
