Young man taken to hospital after gang of thugs 'smashed' into his house and attacked him

A young man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked inside a house in Oldham.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Scowcroft Lane in Shaw at around 4.35am on Saturday morning.

A gang of men had smashed into a property before attacking a 23-year-old man, police said.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a stable condition.

His attackers fled the scene before officers arrived at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault - causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in custody for questioning.

The M.E.N understands that one line of enquiry being looked into is whether the victim was stabbed with a weapon.

A police cordon remains in place on Scowcrotf Lane at the junction of Moor Street and Egerton Place, as police carry out their investigation.

Enquiries are still ongoing, police say.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 527 of 13/06/2020, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
