Young man stabbed to death at 'Christmas party' as police launch murder investigation

A young man has been stabbed to death at a home in Birmingham, with police launching a murder probe.

Neighbours claimed there was a "Christmas party going on" when the incident happened at around 11pm yesterday.

They said they heard no disturbance or altercations but only saw the blue lights of the emergency responders who rushed to the area around Roundlea Road in Bartley Green.

Nine police cars and one ambulance were seen at the scene, Birmingham Live reports.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, West Midlands Police said.

Officers confirmed a murder investigation is underway following the incident.

A neighbour said she heard a single shout last night before seeing the emergency services arrive.

She said: "I didn't hear anything, I took a sleeping tablet and all I heard was one shout then saw blue flashing lights."

Another neighbour said they had been told by police not to say anything at the present time.

A resident, who lives in the terraced properties nearby, said: "There were about six police cars and two ambulances.

"I don't know them, they only just moved in, maybe a month or so ago."

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force’s homicide unit, said: "We are in the very early stages of our enquiry and we would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this tragic death."

He added: "The man’s family has been informed and specialist officers will support them as our investigation continues."
