Young man stabbed in Oldham - forensic teams have been seen trawling for evidence

A young man was knifed in Oldham.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Spring Garden Street, in Royton, shortly after 1am on Thursday (October 24).

Officers and paramedics attended and found a man with a stab wound.

The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital by paramedics.

A police spokesman said his injuries are believed to not be life-threatening.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

Police and forensic teams were later seen outside nearby Royton Health and Wellbeing Centre.

A Greater Manchester Police statement read: "Police were called to a report of a stabbing on Spring Garden Street, Royton, shortly after 1am this morning.

"Emergency services attended and a man aged 23 was taken to hospital with a stab wound that is not believed to be life-threatening.

"Police have arrested a man aged 33 on suspicion of assault.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
