Young man's body slashed and another receives facial injuries during serious incident in Finglas, Dublin

A garda investigation has been launched after a young man had his body cut while another received facial injuries during a serious incident in Dublin on Wednesday.

Terrified locals watched on helplessly as gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the "serious public order incident" on Jamestown Road in Finglas.

The two men - who are both in their 20s - were tended to at the scene by ambulance personnel before being rushed to the Mater Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for Gardai confirmed the incident to Dublin Live and said: "Gardaí responded to reports of a serious public order incident on the Jamestown Rd, Finglas.

"On arrival, a man in his 20s was discovered with apparent lacerations to his body and another male in his 20s had received facial injuries."

He added: "Both were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
