Young man rushed to hospital after stabbing as large crowds flock to sunshine in St Stephen's Green

A young man was rushed to hospital after a horror stabbing in Dublin city centre.

The terrifying incident happened in St Stephen's Green on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardai and emergency services raced to the scene at around 4.30pm.

Hundreds of people had flocked to the area to enjoy the glorious sunshine on one of the hottest days of the year.

However, officers confirmed on Tuesday evening that a man in his 20s had been assaulted in the park.

While gardai are investigating the incident there have been no arrests made in connection.

A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating the assault of a male in his 20s that occurred in St Stephens Green at approximately 4:40pm on Tuesday afternoon.

"No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing."
