Young man raced to hospital after being shot in leg in Wicklow

A young man was raced to hospital after he was shot in the early hours of Sunday morning in Wicklow.

The man, who is in his 20s, was shot in the leg in Rathnew, Co Wicklow at around 7:15am this morning.

He was raced to hospital where his injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses and those that may have dashcam footage to contact them.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Wicklow are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at approximately 7.15a.m this morning, 13th December 2020, at Hazelbrook Court, Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.

"A male in his twenties received a gunshot wound to his leg.

"He was taken to hospital to be treated for serious but non life threatening injuries.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information or footage (including dash cam) who may have been in the area this morning to contact Wicklow Garda station on 0404 60140 or The Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111."
