Young man hospitalised with serious injuries after early morning attack in Dublin park

A man has been hospitalised with serious injuries following an early morning assault in south Dublin.

The shocking incident happened at around 1.50am this morning in O'Rourke Park in Sallynoggin.

The man, in his early 20s, was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital after being found at the scene with serious injuries.

Another man, also in his early 20s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being held in Dun Laoghaire garda station in connection with the incident, Dublin Live reports.

A garda spokeswoman said: "At approximately 1.50am on 16th August 2020 Gardaí were alerted to an incident of assault which occurred in O'Rourke Park Sallynoggin.

"A male in his early 20's was found at the scene with serious injuries and taken to St Vincents Hospital.

"One male in his early 20's was arrested at scene and conveyed to Dun Laoghaire Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"Investigations are ongoing."
