A 27-year-old man died two weeks after slipping on a bridge while out walking the dog with his family, an inquest opening hasw heard.
Callum Jones, of Maes Pinwydd in Ewloe, passed away on Monday, October 18, at 3am at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
A medical cause of death of pulmonary embolism due to immobility as a result of a strained tendon from a fall was heard at the inquest opening held at Ruthin County Hall on Monday, October 25.
John Gittins, senior coroner for north Wales east and central, heard that the fall occurred on a rainy day at Loggerheads Country Park on October 3.
Mr Jones was out walking with his family and their dog and slipped on a bridge after the dog tugged on the lead which the 27-year-old was holding at the time, the coroner heard.
Callum, who was a deputy manager at a Card Factory store, was initially taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he was advised that he had a tendon injury before being admitted to the Countess of Chester Hospital.
The 27-year-old's condition worsened thereafter to the point where he was experiencing a shortness of breath.
It was subsequently discovered that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism and he sadly died after going into cardiac arrest in the early hours of the morning last Monday.
The inquest was adjourned to a date yet to be fixed pending further investigation.
