Young man dies days after being seriously hurt in off-road motorbike crash

A man seriously injured following a crash in Wigan has sadly died.

Police were called to a crash on Spa Road, Atherton, at around 7.15pm on Monday, June 15.

Officers attended and found an off-road motorcycle had collided with a car near the junction with Everest Road.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he died today (Friday).

His next of kin has been informed.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

PC Darren White, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Despite the best efforts of emergency services and hospital staff, the rider of the motorcycle has sadly passed away in hospital.

“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time.

“An investigation is underway and the driver of the car is assisting us with our enquiries but, as ever, I would appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage which may help us to get in touch.”
