Young man dies after serious crash on A90 as road remains closed

A 29-year-old man has died after a serious crash on the A90 this morning.

Emergency services raced to the scene around 7.40am on the A90 Peterhead to Aberdeen Road, south of Newburgh after reports of a one-car crash.

The man was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but pronounced dead shortly after.

Police are appealing for anyone who was on the road this morning to come forward as enquiries into the incident continue.

The man's relatives have been informed and the road remains closed for crash scene investigators to examine the scene.

Sergeant Scott Deans said: “I am appealing to any motorists who were on the road around the time of the incident to contact us. In particular, I would ask anyone with a dash cam to check it as the footage may be able to assist our enquiries. A man has lost his life and it’s imperative, we find out how it happened.”

Anyone with information is being asked to call 101, quoting incident number 0463 of January 26, 2021.
