Young man dies after kite surfing accident on Dublin beach

A young man has died after a kite surfing accident on a Dublin beach this morning.

The man, aged in his 30s, got into trouble off Dollymount Strand shortly after 9am.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene but the man was recovered from the water and pronounced dead.

A post-mortem is due to take place later this evening - Dublin Live reports.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí were alerted to an incident at Dollymount Strand, that occurred shortly after 9am this morning, Saturday 31st October 2020.

"A kite surfer in his 30s had got into trouble in the water. He was removed from the water and was pronounced dead.

"His body has been removed to the Mater Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date."
